Cat Lady spotted at MHS

Picture
Hi, my name is Izabell Slade, and I’m addicted to cat pictures. Many of you may be thinking, “What? How can anyone be addicted to cat pictures?” Well buckle up because I’m about to take you on a ride that may lead to your addiction of cat pictures.

I’ve had a fondness for cat pictures ever since I discovered the Internet. It began with Pinterest. Pictures of Grumpy Cat would make my day (likely because in my pre-teens I related to Grumpy Cat on a personal level). After I found out that cat humor is the dang funniest thing on the Internet, things went downhill from there. I began sending my sisters and friends these pictures. The consequence of that? I was labeled the Crazy Cat Lady, and I received pictures of cat on a regular basis.
This may not seem like a big deal, but now whenever I see a picture of a cat, I absolutely have to send it to someone. I just want others to get a kick out of it the way I do. And believe me, I have converted many a people to cat-anity (yes, I did make that up).

Could I give up being a Crazy Cat Lady? Probably so, but I see no harm in it, so I feel no inclination to stop. I’ll just continue to convert others to this addiction.

Honesty:

I looked down at an essay question that could determine whether or not I eat in college. What drives me? I could answer the honest, deep, philosophical answer that I initially thought, or I could give them what they wanted. The answer full of my magnificent scholarly attributes and leadership qualities. The whole ‘I want to change the world and solve world peace’, yadda yadda. What if what drives me was my parents nagging me or my desire to look good, because however shallow that may sound it is to a point true. Yes, I do want to do something good for the world, I want to be a good person who accomplishes something, but that is only one facet among many. Lots of things drive me. So I am left with a dilemma, am I honest or do I give them what they want? I am all for honesty and integrity and deep thought, but I also have no desire to live in a cardboard box, my only friend the flea residing in my coat pocket. I run into this problem all over, a society that expects certain goals and achievements.

Theoretically let's pretend I want to be a sanitation worker, but I want to be the best trash woman ever, and I want to revolutionize trash everywhere. I could do it, but I could not mention that goal in any scholarship essay, because well... Yeah, I want to be a trash woman. Who would give hundreds of dollars to a person with that kind of goal? They want doctors, or politicians, or professors, or entrepreneurs. Scholarships givers are fishing in a sea where every fish is a chameleon, changing their colors to fit the yummy fish profile. So should I be my true bottom feeder self or should I be a chameleon? Theoretically of course. I’ll leave that up to you.
